Visitor Information

Mahalo for choosing to visit our beautiful island and for being part of what makes our community so special. As Kauaʻi continues to recover, your support makes a meaningful difference for our local businesses, restaurants, and the families who call this island home. Shop local. Dine local. Spend local. Every dollar spent locally helps strengthen our community and supports Kauaʻi’s recovery.

Kauaʻi is open and welcoming visitors.

Outdoor Recreation After Hurricane Lowell

Most of Kauaʻi’s outdoor recreation areas have reopened to the public following Hurricane Lowell. However, some areas may still be affected by storm damage or ongoing recovery work. Before heading out, please check with the appropriate agency or organization for the latest conditions, closures, and safety advisories.

Stay safe on land and in waters

Kauaʻi’s beaches, hiking trails, rivers, and natural landscapes are some of the island’s greatest treasures, but conditions can change quickly. Never cross swollen rivers or streams, stay on designated trails, and respect posted signs and closures. During severe weather, emergency rescues may not be possible.

Check before you enter the ocean

Before entering the ocean, always check with a county lifeguard at a lifeguarded beach. For up-to-date information on Kauaʻi ocean conditions and safety:

  • Visit Safe Beach Day Kauai

  • Contact the County of Kauaʻi Ocean Safety Bureau at 808-241-4984

  • Email oceansafety@kauai.gov

Know before you go. Mahalo for helping keep yourself, your ʻohana, and our community safe while enjoying all that Kauaʻi has to offer.
